The 5 strategies to get you focused or re-focused on Social Media

The 5 strategies to get you focused or re-focused on Social Media

The 5 strategies to get you focused or re-focused on Social Media

Almost all business owners know that Social Media is here to stay, right? And it’s becoming more important for all businesses to participate and market their products and services via Social Media. To get ahead of your competitors and to validate your business you MUST have an online presence.

[Tweet “Learn the 5 Strategies To Get You Focused On Social Media”]

1) Create Content for mobile devices and specific platforms. This means that you need to be aware of your content for all devices your audience is using. Example, if you are posting a video, be sure it loads quickly, is sized properly and that the page actually displays  properly on mobile phones and tablets. Be certain you have a mobile responsive website and always adjust the size of your images to fit mobile devices.

2) Concentrate on Engagement When it comes to Social Media. Try to entertain your customers, be informative, and not “salesy.” Remember, people don’t want to be sold, they want to be entertained. Think about what your customers would care about and create your content with that in mind. Ask questions, encourage sharing of your content and request likes, and follows.

3) Consider having multiple accounts that take a “deeper dive” into your specialty. Sometimes it’s just too hard to be general say in the  sports arena. You may gain more traction if you had multiple accounts for Basketball, Baseball, Soccer etc. I know, it’s a little harder to manage multiple accounts, but you will soon see the benefits of selecting specific accounts that are specialized.

4) Make sure you stay consistent with your brand on all Social Media channels. Your colors, profile photo, images, and your branding in general must be  recognizable to your customers and potential clients. This is often where entrepreneurs and small businesses fail at first and getting this one step right will help you gain interested followers.

5) Don’t be afraid to try new things. Don’t let your social media get stale. Create some test accounts and try a new approach or get into a new interested or niche. If after a while you find something is not working, just retire that idea and move on. But if you create more “buzz” from your followers with a new idea, service, or product, then you and your customers have a Win-Win!

Ask Yourself, Are My Social Media Profiles Set Up Properly?

Ask Yourself, Are My Social Media Profiles Set Up Properly?

Ask Yourself, Are My Social Media Profiles Set Up Properly?

Maybe it’s time to take another look at your profile content on the mail social media channels you use for your business.

WHICH NETWORKS ARE FOR ME?
Make sure you are utilizing the 3 or 4 main channels where most of your potential clients, guests frequent.
Be certain to have a Facebook presnece, and then choose 2 of the other big ones, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Slideshare or You Tube.
It’s impossible to think that you can be on all these and do a good job engaging with followers comments and responding to questions. That’s why we recommend starting out with just 3 or 4. You won’t get overwhelmed and you will reach more people in your target market. If you are a professional coach, then you definitely need to have a presence on LinkedIn and Facebook and perhaps Google+. If you have an online fashion store, then Instagram and Pinterest make great choices, as they are mostly photo driven social media sites.
YOUR PROFILE NAME
When you are setting up your profiles, try to get the same name for each one. It will be easier for you to remember if they are similar and it will also be easier for friends, and followers to find you an all the channels you are using for your business.
YOUR AVATAR
An avatar, is the way that people will recognize you in their feeds, so please don’t have a different avatar on each social media! Keep them common across all the sites you are using. This way people will get used to seeing that beautiful face and remember who you are. Generally,  it is best to have a real photo of you for your avatar. And never leave your avatar blank.
DESCRIPTION
Use a similar description on each social media network to keep your profiles in line with each other. Use Keywords, and make the most out of the space allowed per channel by describing what you do and why they would want to follow you. Alway include a link to your website that they can visit to learn more.

What this means to your business is that there’s a congregation of potential customers just browsing these Social Media sites in their idle hours. They may get bored and have nothing else to do that is important. They are just browsing. This is a perfect opportunity for your business to be noticed, and possibly gain a new customer or guest. Thousands of companies have used Social Media in this way and have found success.

[Tweet “The Right Social Media Midset – It’s Important”]

To tackle the Social Media market, you’ll have an easier time of it if you approach it with the proper attitude. While both online and offline businesses will use social media as a way to engage the customer, the online business deals with social media the way that an offline business would have television ads. It’s a straight way to the sale, since a customer visiting an online business’ site is doing the closest thing to physically visiting the business itself.

If you have an offline business, this is not the case, as the customer is ostensibly at a computer and not at your physical place of business while browsing social networking sites. It’s important to consider this difference and use it to take a different approach to advertising your offline business using social media. While an online business is bringing customers to the storefront, you should be looking to create an impression of your business and try to entice them to come to the physical store. While it is definitely advantageous to consider making an online version of your site for ease of purchasing, you want to have the customer come to your physical store.

This means creating awareness of your products, brand, content, and expertise – and creating that drive to experience the whole package by going to your store.

While it’s likely that the most profitable way for offline business to generate customers in terms of long-term revenue is still offline, the virtual market is taking off fast, and it’s likely that the current state of affairs will change over the next five years. Now is a good time to get involved with marketing through social media and figuring out how it can best serve your offline business before it takes off to a whole new level.

Useful Google+ Tips For Your Business

Useful Google+ Tips For Your Business

Useful Google+ Tips for Your Business

Everybody knows Google, right?  Well, we expect that some announcements will come in 2016 about the Social Media Channel Google+ that they started a few years ago.  Don’t know, or even want to predict what they will be.  What we do know, is that some folks have stated that Google+ was a lost cause and that just isn’t the case.  Until we know any different, we’ll continue to use Google+ to connect with prospective customers and make online networking friends.

Here are a few Google+ Marketing tips you may want to consider utilizing for your business:

2) Grow Your Google+ network by commenting and engaging. This is how you build your reputation, and show your skills and expert in your field status.  Everyone wants to build their Google+ connections and we believe this is the smartest way to do just that. Next join Communities and be active members.[Tweet “Great Google+ tips”]

Don’t get overwhelmed trying to keep their Google+ stream filled with fresh content in the hopes +1’s, re-shares and new, commenting will attract connections.

Also, start engaging in addition to commenting. Always, add valuable comments to the public posts. Join and engage in the community discussions. Attend and participate in the Hangouts on Air.

Here’s a quick scheduling tip to make this process a little easier.  When you use the Chrome browser add the DoShare plugin.  It’s free and allows you to share content at the time you find valuable info online.  When you see something your Google+ audience can use and you want to share, just click the DoShare plugin and viola…it’s been added to your queue to be shared!  Curated content is just as valuable to your community as your own content.

2)  Close Off Comments. After there has been a good amount of interaction on a comment thread, simply close off allowing comments.  You will receive notifications when anyone comments, and you can reply, respond and add to the conversation.  But when you feel the interaction is at an end, just add one final comment and close them off.

It’s easy to close them off, simply click on the upper right of one of your posts and choose ‘disable comments’.

3)  Pay attention to your Image Size and the look of your Page or Profile content.

The ideal size for a Google+ image post is a maximum width of 426px with a length of 213px or 319px.  This size will give you a visually appealing picture post, which will be plussed, shared and hopefully, induce comments and conversation.

Creating attractive, appealing images isn’t hard at all.  Use an online program such as, Canva, or PicMonkey or Buffer Pablo to create the proper sized image.  These three are FREE and you don’t need to know Photoshop to create great graphics.

4)  This tip actually goes for all Social Media venues.  The sizes are slightly different, and you need to pay attention to this when posting.

  • Mix up your Post Content. Here’s just a few ideas of what’s best to post on Google+ for success and maximum sharing:
  • Charts and Infographics
  • Inspirational and Business Quotes
  • List Information posts
  • GIF’s and Memes
  • Tip Posts
  • Ask Questions and Take Polls

Google+ marketing enables you to display your knowledge in your niche, show people how you stand out and build your reputation.  Remember the 80-20 rule, offer valuable info and only promote your business or offer 20% of the time. Join in the conversation, have fun and go get those Google+ pluses!

Top 3 Social Media Trends for Businesses in 2016

Top 3 Social Media Trends for Businesses in 2016

After searching through numerous articles, polls and surveys we have compiled the top recommendations for keeping your business at the top of social media in 2016.  While nothing is a guarantee we highly suggest keeping these policies in mind when creating your social media marketing plan for 2016.

VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO….  Still getting Stronger every single day, this is going to be your number one way to connect with your clients. Folks are becoming more and more in the here and now.  They just don’t want info on your business and what is going on, they want to see WHO is in charge and running your business.

With that being said periscope is going to be paramount in 2016 for business success.  Periscope was acquired by Twitter earlier this year.  Periscope users collectively watch over 40 years of live video each and every day.  Snapchat, Instagram and Blab are also on-the-go social platforms using video.  These platforms will allow brands an opportunity to engage on a totally new level.  Just pick one video sharing platform and USE IT in 2016 to make a bigger impact to your business.

INFLUENCE MARKETING.  This is another great way to increase your brand presence on social media.  Owner, clients and employees alike should be sharing photos, videos and experiences with your brand.  More then 25% branded search results are from user generated content.  As we have said many times over in previous blogs, www.InnSocialMarketing.com/blog-2 it will be more important then ever to build quality relationships with your followers and friends.  Folks want to know your story.  The story about how the business was formed, and the story about how you use your products, how they have changed your life and that of your customers.

An example of how to humanize your brand check out Airbnb.com.  This company was able to grow its customer base by leaps and bounds using the word of mouth strategy. They often show how passionate travelers and property owners are and how they offer unique and homey (usually less expensive) places to stay.

MOBILE– Your online business presence must be mobile friendly to survive and excel in 2016.  Optimizing your website for the mobile generation used to be thought of as a courtesy, now it is a absolute necessity.  Aiming your marketing efforts towards the Millennial generation should be at the top of your social media strategy.  If you did not know, over 87% of this generation admits to never go anywhere, or do anything, without their phone.  Do you think your business will attract this HUGE market if they can’t find or see your website?  More and more shoppers are using their mobile devices for research on products and businesses, travel and making purchase on the go.  If you have not completely committed to social media marketing, at least make sure your website is modern and fully optimized for mobile applications and viewing.  Make sure you include video, photos and make sure they are all optimized!!

I hope these top 3 social media strategies for your business in 2016 offers a quick reference in what to pay attention to this coming year.  Contact us at Inn Social Marketing, LLP, if you have questions on Social Media or if you need additional information on optimizing your website for mobile in 2016.  We’d love to partner with you for success in 2016!  Email us @ InnSocialMarketing@gmail.com. or by phone @1.609.375.8111.

New or Repeat Customers?

Our Blog

Should I be looking to keep customers or obtain new ones, that is the question.  This is a very valid question to ask? When actually the real question is more like, is it less expensive to market for new clients or work on keeping your existing ones?  The answer is, it’s much easier and six to seven times less expensive to keep customers then to obtain new ones.  When you have a happy client they will continue to come back and often refer your business to others, hence free advertising.  Word of mouth and referrals is still a great way to get business and it can be done one on one or to thousands via social media.

A recent study indicated

– 79% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

Another one stated;

-A One-Star increase in a YELP Rating leads to a 5 – 9 % increase in revenue!

And did you know that

-73% of customers say positive reviews make them have more trust in a business they may not already know!

What’s the easiest way to keep in touch with these clients?  When your clients make a purchase or spend time at your establishment ask for their information (email address, social media profile or even cell phone number) so you can send them information on upcoming sales, events and discounts.

It’s just smart marketing building those contact lists! If you have a clients’ contact info and you send them periodic specials, information and newsletters, then it’s easy and fairly inexpensive to stay in their thoughts and Top-Of-Mind. Different businesses use different schedules and avenues to keep in touch.  Making it much easier to keep customers then obtain new ones.

Here are just a few ways to keep in contact with your clients:
1) Keep them Informed: Send them discounts or let them know when you are having a sale or even just some basic useful information that would relate to your services.  You can do this via email, text or social posting.

2) Send Thank You Notes: Send them a handwritten thank you for visiting your property or business.

3) Celebrate their Special Days: When it’s their birthday or there is a holiday coming up you can send them a note (there are many options with online ecards, no postage necessary and just as meaningful).

4) Advertise New Programs:  Ever consider creating a frequent guest or customer program to increase your repeat business?  They visit your location x number times and they get a discount or a free item. (the free item can even be a discount to a local store that you can partner with to offer their services to your clients and vise versa).

These are just some of the inexpensive ways to help you build and maintain your client engagement and keep your customer lists growing.

Engaging with your clients on social media is the number one way keep customers or obtain new ones.  Post daily images, deals or specials and you will be in their face almost daily without being a pest.  If you don’t have time to post multiple times a day to multiple social profiles then talk to us at Inn Social Marketing, LLP.  We can partner with you and take the bulk of this work off your plate. Contact us today to learn more about how to keep your customers returning and how to stay engaged with them.  Inn Social Marketing, LLP offers email services, website design, Social Media content creation & management and much more.

10 Reasons to Use Social Media for Marketing

10 Reasons to Use Social Media for Marketing

To some Inn owners, social media marketing is just a fad that must be taken advantage of while it’s still popular. To others, it has no practical advantages and is too time consuming to learn and incorporate in daily routines.

The statistics show the benefits of social media marketing.  According to Hubspot 92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important for their business. 80% indicated their efforts increased traffic to their websites, which in turn increases bookings. And according to Social Media Examiner, 97% of marketers are currently participating in social media—but 85% of participants aren’t sure how to manage their accounts.

If you find yourself intrigued about social media then continue reading these 10 Reasons to use Social Media for Marketing to help improve your guest list and room bookings.

Social Media is here to stay why not embrace it?

  1. Increased Inn Recognition.Every opportunity you have to syndicate your content to increase your visibility is valuable. Your social media networks are new channels for your Inn’s voice and content. This is important because it simultaneously makes your Inn more accessible for new guests, and makes you more familiar and recognizable for existing guests. For example, a frequent Twitter user could hear about your Inn for the first time only after stumbling upon it in a newsfeed. Or, an otherwise apathetic guest might become better acquainted with your Inn after seeing your presence on multiple networks.
  2. Improved Inn (Brands) loyalty.According to a report published by Texas Tech University, brands who engage on social media channels enjoy higher loyalty from their customers. The report concludes “Companies should take advantage of the tools social media gives them when it comes to connecting with their audience. A strategic and open social media plan could prove influential in morphing consumers into being brand loyal.” Another study published by Convince and Convert found that 53% of Americans who follow brands in social are more loyal to those brands.

Don’t be scared by the phrase social media plan. This is quite simple and we can help.  Just contact us http://www.innsocialmarketing.com/contact/   and we can help get you started.

  1. More Opportunities to Convert.Every post you make on a social media platform is an opportunity for folks to become guests or refer someone to you. When you build a following on each social site, you’ll have access to new guests, recent guests, and old guests, and you’ll be able to interact with all of them. Every image, video, blog post, or comment you share is a chance for someone to interact with you, and every interaction could lead to a site visit, and eventually a booking. Not every interaction with your Inn results in a conversion, but every positive interaction increases the likelihood of an eventual booking. Even if your click-through rates are low, the sheer number of opportunities you have on social media is significant.
  1. Higher conversion rates.Social media marketing results in higher conversion rates in a few distinct ways. Your Inn becomes more humanized by interacting in social media channels. Social media is a place where Inns can act like people, and people like doing business with other people; not with companies.

Social media has proven a 100% higher lead-to-close rate than any other marketing option.  The more social media followers you have tends to improve your trust and credibility, which is your online marketing goal! As such, simply building your audience and presence in social media can improve conversion rates of your existing traffic.

  1. Higher Brand Authority.Interacting with your customers regularly is a show of good faith for other guests. When people go to compliment or brag about a place to stay and service they have received they turn to social media. When they post your Inn’s name, new audience members will want to follow you for updates. The more people that are talking about you on social media, the more value and authority your Inn has.  If you can interact with other MAJOR influencers on social networks, your visible authority and reach will skyrocket which in turn offers a chance for increased guest bookings.
  1. Increased Inbound Traffic.Without social media, your inbound traffic is limited to people already familiar with your Inn and individuals searching for keywords you currently rank for. Every social media profile you add is another path leading back to your site, and every piece of content you post on those profiles is another opportunity for new visitors. The more quality content you offer on social media, the more inbound traffic you’ll generate, and more traffic means more leads and more bookings
  1. Decreased Marketing Costs. It’s FREE to post on social media why not utilitze it to the best of its ability? Even paid advertising through Facebook and Twitter is relatively inexpensive (depending on your goals, of course)if you choose to go that route.
  1. Better Search Engine Rankings.SEO is still the best way to capture relevant traffic from search engines, but the requirements for success are always changing and now it incorporates your social media presence. The fact is that strong brands almost always use social media.  Being active on social media could act as a “brand signal” to search engines that your brand is legitimate, credible, and trustworthy. That means, if you want to rank for a given set of keywords, having a strong social media presence could be almost mandatory.
  1. Richer Guest Experiences.Social media is a communication channel like email or phone calls. Every guest interaction you have on social media is an opportunity to publicly demonstrate your customer service level and enrich your relationship with your guests. You can immediately publicly thank your guests for their resent visit or entice them to join you for a return visit. It’s a personal experience that lets guests know you care about them.
  1. Improved Customer Insights.Social media also gives you an opportunity to gain valuable information about what your guests are interested in and how they behave. You can easily chart what guests are saying about your Inn and what advertising is working and what isn’t.  You can see what content is giving you the best response and adjust your advertising to suit the results therefore not waisting any advertising dollars.

These were just 10 Reasons to use Social Media for Marketing.    Social Media is a great tool and will offer some quick results but the best laid plans take time and will offer you even better results.  If you’re still apprehensive about getting started, consider this:

  • Your Competition Is Already on Social Media.Your competitors are already working social media, which means you are loosing out on potential traffic and conversions. Don’t let your competitors reap all the benefits of social media  If for some reason your competition is not involved on social media yet, there’s even more of a reason to get started TODAY!
  • The Sooner You Start, the Sooner You Reap the Benefits.Social media is all about relationship building.  It takes time to build relationships but the good news is you already have a great following from your past guests.  You just need to let them to know where to find you on social media.  Once they friend or follow you their friends will start to connect with your Inn as well which increases your audience and your bookings, all with little or no money.
  • Potential Losses Are Insignificant. There really is no downside to social media. The amount of time and money it takes to create your profiles and start posting is usually minimal, compared to other marketing channels.  We can help you get started today.  http://www.innsocialmarketing.com/contact/
