Top 3 Social Media Trends for Businesses in 2016

Top 3 Social Media Trends for Businesses in 2016

After searching through numerous articles, polls and surveys we have compiled the top recommendations for keeping your business at the top of social media in 2016.  While nothing is a guarantee we highly suggest keeping these policies in mind when creating your social media marketing plan for 2016.

VIDEO, VIDEO, VIDEO….  Still getting Stronger every single day, this is going to be your number one way to connect with your clients. Folks are becoming more and more in the here and now.  They just don’t want info on your business and what is going on, they want to see WHO is in charge and running your business.

With that being said periscope is going to be paramount in 2016 for business success.  Periscope was acquired by Twitter earlier this year.  Periscope users collectively watch over 40 years of live video each and every day.  Snapchat, Instagram and Blab are also on-the-go social platforms using video.  These platforms will allow brands an opportunity to engage on a totally new level.  Just pick one video sharing platform and USE IT in 2016 to make a bigger impact to your business.

INFLUENCE MARKETING.  This is another great way to increase your brand presence on social media.  Owner, clients and employees alike should be sharing photos, videos and experiences with your brand.  More then 25% branded search results are from user generated content.  As we have said many times over in previous blogs, www.InnSocialMarketing.com/blog-2 it will be more important then ever to build quality relationships with your followers and friends.  Folks want to know your story.  The story about how the business was formed, and the story about how you use your products, how they have changed your life and that of your customers.

An example of how to humanize your brand check out Airbnb.com.  This company was able to grow its customer base by leaps and bounds using the word of mouth strategy. They often show how passionate travelers and property owners are and how they offer unique and homey (usually less expensive) places to stay.

MOBILE– Your online business presence must be mobile friendly to survive and excel in 2016.  Optimizing your website for the mobile generation used to be thought of as a courtesy, now it is a absolute necessity.  Aiming your marketing efforts towards the Millennial generation should be at the top of your social media strategy.  If you did not know, over 87% of this generation admits to never go anywhere, or do anything, without their phone.  Do you think your business will attract this HUGE market if they can’t find or see your website?  More and more shoppers are using their mobile devices for research on products and businesses, travel and making purchase on the go.  If you have not completely committed to social media marketing, at least make sure your website is modern and fully optimized for mobile applications and viewing.  Make sure you include video, photos and make sure they are all optimized!!

I hope these top 3 social media strategies for your business in 2016 offers a quick reference in what to pay attention to this coming year.  Contact us at Inn Social Marketing, LLP, if you have questions on Social Media or if you need additional information on optimizing your website for mobile in 2016.  We’d love to partner with you for success in 2016!  Email us @ InnSocialMarketing@gmail.com. or by phone @1.609.375.8111.

New or Repeat Customers?

Our Blog

Should I be looking to keep customers or obtain new ones, that is the question.  This is a very valid question to ask? When actually the real question is more like, is it less expensive to market for new clients or work on keeping your existing ones?  The answer is, it’s much easier and six to seven times less expensive to keep customers then to obtain new ones.  When you have a happy client they will continue to come back and often refer your business to others, hence free advertising.  Word of mouth and referrals is still a great way to get business and it can be done one on one or to thousands via social media.

A recent study indicated

– 79% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.

Another one stated;

-A One-Star increase in a YELP Rating leads to a 5 – 9 % increase in revenue!

And did you know that

-73% of customers say positive reviews make them have more trust in a business they may not already know!

What’s the easiest way to keep in touch with these clients?  When your clients make a purchase or spend time at your establishment ask for their information (email address, social media profile or even cell phone number) so you can send them information on upcoming sales, events and discounts.

It’s just smart marketing building those contact lists! If you have a clients’ contact info and you send them periodic specials, information and newsletters, then it’s easy and fairly inexpensive to stay in their thoughts and Top-Of-Mind. Different businesses use different schedules and avenues to keep in touch.  Making it much easier to keep customers then obtain new ones.

Here are just a few ways to keep in contact with your clients:
1) Keep them Informed: Send them discounts or let them know when you are having a sale or even just some basic useful information that would relate to your services.  You can do this via email, text or social posting.

2) Send Thank You Notes: Send them a handwritten thank you for visiting your property or business.

3) Celebrate their Special Days: When it’s their birthday or there is a holiday coming up you can send them a note (there are many options with online ecards, no postage necessary and just as meaningful).

4) Advertise New Programs:  Ever consider creating a frequent guest or customer program to increase your repeat business?  They visit your location x number times and they get a discount or a free item. (the free item can even be a discount to a local store that you can partner with to offer their services to your clients and vise versa).

These are just some of the inexpensive ways to help you build and maintain your client engagement and keep your customer lists growing.

Engaging with your clients on social media is the number one way keep customers or obtain new ones.  Post daily images, deals or specials and you will be in their face almost daily without being a pest.  If you don’t have time to post multiple times a day to multiple social profiles then talk to us at Inn Social Marketing, LLP.  We can partner with you and take the bulk of this work off your plate. Contact us today to learn more about how to keep your customers returning and how to stay engaged with them.  Inn Social Marketing, LLP offers email services, website design, Social Media content creation & management and much more.

Promote Your Business Online and Offline

Promote Your Business Online and Offline

Promote your business online and offline consider a few of the following items. When promoting your business don’t just promote YOUR business.  You need to be promoting your area.  Choose a certain mile radius from your location to target. For Inns and Hotels we suggest at least a 400 mile radius to market.  Find fun things that are going on in your area.  What events are being hosted, are there businesses that are getting regional or national recognition?  If so help them promote.  Utilize their triumphs to help build your interest.  When you come into a slow time of year find the little quirks about your area and make it special, and different,  Ask yourself, “Why would someone want to visit here?. Make sure your accolades are kept up to date on your website and promote your awards, recognition & accomplishments.  The more you can promote your business online and offline the more reason folks will want to visit your area and stay with you.  Promote YOUR differences from all the rest.

Online and Offline Promotion Ideas to Get Your Started:

  • Set up a coop with other businesses in your area. See if they will do a referral swap. If you promote their business ask them to promote yours.
  • Attend Local Events, Meetings and Special Events. Chamber of commerce and other civic groups such as the Elks, Rotary Club, Civil Service departments.
  • Contact Local Charities, Consider offering a discount for their fundraisers or even better actually attend   these events
  • Partner with factories and corporations, Often times they have discount programs for their workers and if not you can just ask if you can supply them with a discount to your business
  • Attend Festivals, fairs and exhibits, Have a display or see if they offer goody bags or some other giveaways. If they don’t then you can attend and give their vendors an information packet.
  • Sponsor an ad Outdoor guides and association newsletters.
  • Be listed with Housing associations. You can offer their homeowners a friends and family discount for when they have out of town guests
  • Promote Local Wineries and breweries, Partner with these folks they can share your information with their clients and you can offer your guests the winery information.

Regardless of your business, it is important to get out and network with your local communities.  Even if you are an introvert, you can certainly do it through social media. Creating great contacts and working together to share services, add value to each other’s business and promote the area, is always a Win Win when you work together to promote your business online and offline!.
